8 Barriers In Effective Communication Style of SSB Aspirants

All aspirants, who are indulged in preparing for SSB should work hard to make themselves fully ready for their upcoming opportunities. In the same stream, introspection should also be focused. Half of the battle in SSB is conquered by communicating effectively and impressively. Before emphasizing on it, candidates must know the problems and barriers that they might encounter in communication skills. Your personal observation and consultation can make you aware of your problems, which are:-

 
1. Unmatched Gestures – Gestures play crucial role in communication skills. Expressing perfect and related gestures in the communication are necessary and makes the conversation effective and there mismatch makes the conversation downgraded.
2. Avoiding Or Getting Pacified In Difficult Conversations – People who avoid or try to sneak out from difficult situations and conversation are devoid of communication skill as they always hesitate to put their point in front of a bunch of people.
3. Targeting Wrong In Conversation – Wrong targeting or giving an irrelevant point in a conversation never leads to the expected or favorable conclusion. Staying to the point and following the theme of the conversation is necessary. A candidate must communicate and stay on the topic and follow the rhythm of discussion.
4. Reacting Rather Than Responding – The two words mean a lot and differentiate between a good and bad communication skills. Stay calm and listen to what is being asked and respond as per the requirement of the argument. Don’t react and disturb the conversation or discussion.

5. Using Specific Words Continuously – Some candidates continuously and repeatedly use some of the specific words that show low confidence and hesitation, which is also a problem of communication skill.
6. Absence In The Conversation – Some candidate’s find it hard to stay present in the conversation, which makes them inactive and irregular communicator. During G.D., these candidates find it hard to get the point of other candidates and could not give expected or relative reply to others points.
7. Mismanaged Expressions And Emotions – Blank faces, rude expressions and bombarding comments are the traits of a bad communicator. Expressions are an important part of communication skills as suitable expressions garnishes the conversation and makes others comfortable and enjoyable in talking to you, which matters a lot in the Armed Forces.
8. Imperfect Use Of Language – The use of language must be perfect to deliver your message to the next person. Voids or obstructions in communication due to the imperfect use of language reduce impression and also lead to the misconception of thoughts by other people.

Conclusion – Communication skills are the most efficient weapon to impress the SSB crew and is also an effective quality of an officer. A good communicator always keeps misunderstandings and misinterpretations away. But it is better to firstly find the problem before eradicating and solving it. The above points clarify the basic problems that SSB aspirants may face in their communication skills. The best ways to improve your communication skills are to keep the mind active while speaking and staying clear on your point.
