Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi presented the prestigious Veteran Achievers Award to four distinguished ex-servicemen at Bathinda Military Station, recognising their outstanding contributions to the nation even after retirement.
The awards celebrate veterans who have continued to serve the country in unique and impactful ways, embodying the spirit of service long after leaving active duty.

The Awardees and Their Contributions
Col Satpal Rai Gabba (Retd) — Chairman of the Ex-Servicemen Union, Abohar, he played a critical role during Operation SINDOOR, volunteering for the security of rear areas. He coordinated with the local truck union to arrange transport and equipment, and mobilised volunteers to strengthen the formation’s defence preparedness.
Lt Col Jagjit Singh Maan (Retd) — A passionate environmentalist and active member of the Tree Lovers Society, he has spearheaded afforestation drives in Bathinda Military Station. Under the Arboriculture Plan, he facilitated the plantation of over 50,000 saplings, significantly contributing to the station’s green cover.

Craftsman Banwari Lal Swami (Retd) — Alongside his doctor son, he provided free medical care to troops deployed in forward areas and their families at Fazilka Military Station. His efforts became a beacon of inspiration during Operation SINDOOR.
Sub Maj (Hony Capt) Sis Ram (Retd) — During Operation SINDOOR, he assisted the Indian Army by coordinating and mobilising civil resources to ensure robust logistics support at Rajgarh, enhancing the formation’s mission readiness.

The Veteran Achievers Award underscores the Indian Army’s recognition of those who continue to contribute to the nation in meaningful ways after retirement. These veterans have shown that the call of duty does not end with the uniform.
