Indian Airforce Recruitment Notification Group Y

The Indian Air Force has issued a notification for the application of the post of Airman, from designated Districts of State of Goa.The Recruitment Test for Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical), Automobile Technician (Auto Tech), Indian Air Force (Police) [IAF(P)] and Medical Assistant.

Duration of Test:

  • The Recruitment Test shall be conducted from 6:00 AM onwards as per the details are given below. Candidates (from designated districts of the state of Goa)

Age Bracket

  • Candidates born between 19 Jul 1999 and 01 Jul 2003 (both days inclusive) are eligible to appear in the Recruitment Rally.

Educational Qualification.

  • For Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) {Auto Tech & IAF(P) Trades):- Candidate should have passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Class XII or Equivalent
  • Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate as well as in English in Class XII or equivalent examination.
  • Passed two years vocational course from Education Boards listed as COBSE member with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in
  • English in the vocational course or Intermediate/Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course.
  • For Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Medical Assistant Trade. Candidate should have passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Class XII or Equivalent
  • Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate as well asin English in Class XII or equivalent examination.
  •  Note – 1: Education Boards listed in Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE) website as members, shall only be permitted.

Note – 2: Exact aggregate % of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet of 10+2/Intermediate/Equivalent OR calculated as per the rules of concerned Education Board shall only be considered (For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not be rounded off to 50%).

General Medical Standards shall be as follows: –

  • Chest: Minimum range of expansion: 5 cm (ii) Weight: Proportionate to height and age. (iii) Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) shall not be acceptable.
  • Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters with each ear separately.
  • Dental: Should have healthy gums, a good set of teeth and a minimum 14 dental points.
  • Health: Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical disability or infection and skin ailments. Candidate must be physically and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

Tenure & Training.

  • Enrolment shall be for an initial period of 20 years (subject to condition) which may be extended up to the age of 57 years (subject to service conditions). Initially, candidates shall be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at Basic Training Institute, Belagavi (Karnataka).
  • On successful completion of JBPT, candidates will be allocated trades and sent for trade training of specified duration which shall include Security training or any other training centre as per service requirements. Training is, however, liable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness, and discipline or is found to be medically unfit.

  •   Automobile Technician. As an Automobile Technician you will drive all types of light, medium and heavy automobiles, load carriers and
  • specialist vehicles like cranes, towing tractors, fork lifters, etc, subject to service exigencies. You will also carry out minor repairs, day to day maintenance and basic level servicing of the common user vehicles and specialist vehicles in the Indian Air Force inventory.
  • are also in-charge of maintenance of security.
  •   Indian Air Force (Police). As an Indian Air Force (Police) your responsibilities involve assuming police duties and investigation of offenses. Selected candidates will also in-charge of maintenance of security
  • Medical Assistant. Operating as a Medical Assistant, you are made familiar with nursing and first-aid. You are also involved in the management of medical stores, dispensaries and ward supervision

Examination sequence:

Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical) Auto Tech, IAF(Police) & finally Medical Assistant Trades

Physical Fitness Test (PFT).

PFT consists of a 1.6 Km run to be completed within 6 minutes 30 seconds.

Candidates shall also have to complete

  •  10 push-ups,
  • 10 sit-ups and
  • 20 squats within the stipulated time to qualify in the Physical Fitness Test.

Written Test:

  • All candidates who qualify PFT shall undertake the written test on the same or subsequent day depending on the local conditions.
  • The Written Test will be objective type and question paper shall be bilingual (English & Hindi) except for English paper. Answers are to be annotated on the OMR sheet.
  • The detailed procedure shall be explained before the conduct of the examination. Duration of the written test will be for a duration of 45 minutes and shall comprise of English as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA). Results of the written test shall be declared on the same day.

Marking Pattern for Written Test:-

01 mark for every correct answer. (ii) Nil (0) marks for the unattempted question.

0.25 marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer or choosing more than one option as an answer.

  • Adaptability Test-1. All candidates who pass the Written Test shall undertake Adaptability Test-1 on the same or subsequent day
  • Depending on the local conditions. Adaptability Test – 1 is to assess the suitability of a candidate for employment in the IAF which involves deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions
  • Adaptability Test-2. All candidates who pass Adaptability Test-1 will have to undertake Adaptability Test-2 as per policy in vogue.
  • The second Adaptability Test is to select candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian Air Force and can adjust to the military way of life.
  • Note: The question paper is a confidential document of the Indian Air Force. All candidates to note and understand that access to the question
  • The paper is permitted only during the examination (R) only during the examination. Question paper in any form whatsoever will not be provided to the candidate after examination

Medical Exam:

  • Candidates who qualify Adaptability Test -2 shall be medically examined in January 2020 at SMC, Air Force Station Mumbai / Air Force Station Nasik.
  • The Air Force Medical Team shall conduct medical Examination as per IAF medical standards.
