Leave No Man Behind: Indian Army Found Its Soldier after 38 Years [Watch]

Lance Naik Chandra Shekhar of the 19 Kumaon Battalion participated in Operation Meghdhoot in 1984. Chandrashekhar's corpses were found in a glacier bunker on August 13. Officials from the 19 Kumaon Regiment told his wife Shanti Devi the next day.

After going missing on May 29, 1984 while stationed at Glacier owing to an avalanche, the mortal remains of LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar were found by a patrol of the Indian Army. He had been missing since then.

LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar was identified with the assistance of an identifying disc with his Army number that was entangled together with the mortal remains; additional data were collected from official Army records. LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar was a soldier in the Indian Army.

The mortal remains of LNk (Late) Chander Shekhar, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving his country in Operation Meghdoot at Gyongla Glacier in 1984, would be returned to his family.
