These tugs, constructed under the classification rules of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), stand as proud flag bearers of the Make in India initiative, showcasing the nation’s commitment to fostering indigenous manufacturing capabilities.

The contract for the construction and delivery of six 25T Bollard Pull Tugs was awarded to M/s Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (M/s TRSL), aligning with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative of the Government of India.

These state-of-the-art tugs are poised to play a crucial role in enhancing the operational commitments of the Indian Navy, offering vital support during berthing and unberthing of naval ships and submarines, maneuvering in confined waters, and providing afloat firefighting assistance.

Moreover, the tugs boast the capability to conduct limited Search and Rescue Operations, further augmenting their utility in safeguarding maritime interests and ensuring maritime security in the region. The availability of such advanced vessels underscores the Indian Navy’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a robust and capable maritime force.

The launch of Bahubali and the keel laying of Yuvan represent significant milestones in India’s journey towards self-sufficiency in defence production.

These vessels not only serve as force multipliers for the Indian Navy but also showcase the nation’s prowess in designing and constructing cutting-edge maritime assets.
