In a series of significant engagements, Lieutenant General Ajai Kumar Singh, Army Commander of Southern Command and Colonel of the 11 Gorkha Rifles and Sikkim Scouts, visited the Gorkha Rifles battalions stationed at Dras and Balbir.

During his visit, he paid homage to the fallen heroes of Operation Vijay at the Kargil War Memorial and addressed troops on contemporary issues, underscoring the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism and operational readiness.

Lt Gen Ajai Kumar Singh began his visit by laying a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras, a solemn tribute to the valiant soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during Operation Vijay.

The General Officer’s gesture was a poignant reminder of the bravery and dedication of the Indian Armed Forces. Following the wreath-laying ceremony, he visited the Hut of Remembrance and the adjacent museum, which house memorabilia and exhibits commemorating the Kargil conflict and the soldiers who fought in it.

During his visit to the Gorkha Rifles battalions, Lt Gen Singh addressed the troops, discussing relevant contemporary issues and appreciating the high standards of professionalism upheld by the regiments.
