In a significant ceremony at the 11 Gorkha Rifles Regimental Centre in Lucknow on June 16, 2024, Lt Gen Ajai Kumar Singh, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command and President of the Gorkha Brigade, handed over the command of Colonel of the 11 GR & Sikkim Scouts to Maj Gen AS Gahlot, SM, ADG MP.
During his visit to the regimental centre, Lt Gen Singh participated in several ceremonial activities. He inspected the Centre Quarter Guard, laid a wreath at the War Memorial, and attended the temple to pay his respects.
His interactions with the troops were highlighted during a Special Sainik Sammelan where he encouraged the soldiers to uphold their professionalism and responsibility as citizens.
The transfer of command marks a pivotal moment for the 11 Gorkha Rifles, underscoring the continuity and tradition that characterizes the Indian Army’s distinguished units.
