A suspended woman Colonel stationed in Ambala reportedly attempted suicide by inflicting a wound on her neck. This incident occurred shortly after she was suspended by the Deputy General Officer Commanding of the a Artillery Division on allegations of several lapses.
Her husband claims the attempt was a result of systematic victimization by senior officers of the Western Command and HQ Corps.
The Colonel was initially treated at a Military Hospital in Ambala on July 13, following the incident, and later transferred to the Command Hospital at Chandimandir for psychiatric evaluation.
Despite the severe allegations and the reported suicide attempt, the Army has denied that the Colonel tried to end her life, stating that the wound was superficial and had been treated accordingly.
The officer’s husband, himself a former Army serviceman, has filed a complaint with the Ambala police. He alleges that his wife was subjected to humiliation and harassment, exacerbated by her forced relocation from Yol in Himachal Pradesh to Ambala, which had to be completed within five days.
Furthermore, he has shared a suicide note, allegedly written by the Colonel, accusing a Brigadier at HQs Western Command of mental harassment.
In an FIR, a woman Colonel has accused four Army officers of stalking, confinement, and defamation. These officers have approached the Himachal Pradesh High Court to have the FIR dismissed. They argue in their petition that the FIR is a repercussion of the Court of Inquiry and the disciplinary actions initiated by the Army against her on various charges.
