In a momentous ceremony held in Ahilyanagar, General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), honored the exceptional service and achievements of four battalions of the Mechanised Infantry Arm by presenting them with the prestigious President’s Colours Award. This accolade was bestowed upon the 26th and 27th battalions of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, as well as the 20th and 22nd battalions of the Brigade of The Guards, recognizing their outstanding contributions to the nation both in combat and during peacetime operations.
The ceremony took place at the Mechanised Infantry Centre and School (MIC&S) and included a formal review of the Colour Presentation Parade featuring marching and mounted contingents from the honored battalions. General Dwivedi reiterated the foundational role of the Mechanised Infantry Arm since its establishment in 1979, highlighting its evolution into a formidable and professional entity within the Indian Army.
In his address, General Dwivedi emphasized the exemplary qualities exhibited by the Mechanised Infantry, citing their remarkable courage, discipline, and operational proficiency in several critical operations, including Operation Pawan, Operation Vijay, Operation Rakshak, and Operation Snow Leopard, along with their significant involvement in UN peacekeeping missions. He pointed out that this branch of the army has continually embraced modernization, incorporating advanced technologies such as futuristic infantry combat vehicles, Nag missile systems, canister-launched anti-armour systems, mini remotely piloted aircraft, and integrated surveillance and target systems. These advancements aim to fortify the Army’s decisive role in future conflicts.
General Dwivedi concluded his address by expressing pride in the professionalism and dedication evident within the Indian Army. He commended the soldiers for their commitment to upholding the highest standards, which play a crucial role in the nation’s defense. The event served not only as a recognition of past achievements but also as inspiration for continued excellence in service to the country.
