The Pride of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan

Hailing from Jhunjhunu, famously known as “Veero ki Dharti” (Land of the Brave) in Rajasthan, Sqn Ldr Mahender Singh embodies the valor and resilience for which his region is renowned. His journey to becoming an IAF officer is deeply rooted in a legacy of service. A third-generation officer, Sqn Ldr Mahender Singh carries forward the torch of commitment and patriotism, continuing his family’s tradition of serving the nation.

From Sainik School to the Skies

Sqn Ldr Singh’s foundation for an illustrious career in the armed forces was laid at Sainik School, Chittorgarh, a cradle of excellence that has produced numerous officers for the Indian Armed Forces. The rigorous discipline, leadership training, and values instilled during his time at Sainik School prepared him for the challenges of a military career and the responsibility of leading the IAF contingent at the Republic Day Parade.

The Indian Air Force Contingent

This year, the Indian Air Force contingent will comprise four officers and 144 personnel. Squadron Leader Mahender Singh Garati will lead the contingent, with the support of the following supernumerary officers:

  • Flight Lieutenant Nepo Moirangthem
  • Flight Lieutenant Damini Deshmukh
  • Flying Officer Abhinav Gorsi

The contingent will reflect the precision, professionalism, and discipline that are the hallmarks of the Indian Air Force. Marching in perfect synchronization, the contingent will demonstrate the indomitable spirit of the IAF to protect the nation’s skies.

A Spectacular Fly-Past

Adding to the grandeur of the parade, the IAF will stage a stunning fly-past by three MiG-29 aircraft in the ‘Baaz Formation’.
