US President Donald Trump, addressing graduating cadets at the United States Military Academy, alleged that Russia stole Americaโs hypersonic missile technology during Barack Obamaโs presidency. Speaking at the commencement ceremony at West Point, Trump claimed the US was the original designer of the advanced missile system and that significant quantities are now being produced.
โEight cadets here today took on the challenge of designing their own hypersonic rocket. We are building them right now. We had ours stolen. We are the designers of it. We had it stolen during the Obama administration,โ Trump said, shifting blame for the alleged breach to his Democratic predecessor.
Trump further emphasized his administrationโs efforts to strengthen the US military. โWe rebuilt it like nobody has ever rebuilt it before in my first term,โ he told the class of 1,002 cadets, describing them as future leaders of โthe greatest and most powerful army the world has ever known.โ
Wearing his signature red โMake America Great Againโ cap, the Republican president also took jabs at the Biden administrationโs military policies. He stated that his vision for the military centers on direct national defense and eliminating political distractions.
โWeโre getting rid of distractions and focusing our military on its core missionโcrushing Americaโs adversaries, killing Americaโs enemies and defending our great American flag like it has never been defended before,โ Trump declared.
He criticized previous US military interventions as misguided attempts at nation-building. โWeโve been led into crusades to nations that wanted nothing to do with us,โ he said, asserting that future military efforts would focus solely on American interests.
Trump also condemned what he described as politicized programs such as critical race theory and gender identity training within the armed forces. โThe job of the US Armed Forces is not to host drag shows or transform foreign cultures,โ he said, referencing controversial events on military bases under the previous administration.
His remarks come amid growing global focus on hypersonic missile development and the strategic rivalry with Russia and China in next-generation weaponry. The statement marks a sharp escalation in rhetoric, as Trump accused Moscow of technological theft and vowed a new era of missile dominance under his leadership.
