Major Sandeep Singh Reyal, a resident of Ward No. 3 in Nurpur town, has been awarded the prestigious Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Commendation Card by Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi for his exemplary service during a foreign assignment in Bhutan.
Major Reyal, who served as a specialist dental officer with the Indian Military Training Team (IMTRAT) in Bhutan’s capital Thimphu, was recognized for his professional excellence and compassionate care. Over his two-year tenure, he provided critical dental treatment to several high-profile individuals, including members of the Royal family, ministers, foreign diplomats, and local citizens. His service earned widespread appreciation from the Royal Bhutan Army, the local community, and fellow Indian Army personnel.
Selected through a rigorous process at Army Headquarters in March 2023, Major Reyal joined IMTRAT in July 2023. IMTRAT, India’s oldest overseas military training mission, has trained the Royal Bhutan Army and Royal Bodyguard personnel since its inception in the early 1960s.
An alumnus of Government Dental College, Shimla, Major Reyal holds a postgraduate degree in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. He was commissioned into the Army Dental Corps in December 2016 after securing an All India Rank of 22 in the SSC entrance. He has previously served in challenging areas like Leh, Siachen, New Delhi, Lucknow, and Sukna in West Bengal.
Major Reyal is expected to return to India next month following the successful completion of his assignment. His dedication, clinical skill, and service abroad have brought pride to his hometown and serve as a source of inspiration for many.
