Netanyahu Nominates Donald Trump for Nobel Peace Prize During White House Visit

Trump Calls Nomination "Meaningful" as Leaders Discuss Gaza Conflict and Palestinian Future.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially nominated former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, handing him a nomination letter during their meeting at the White House on Monday.

Speaking to reporters at the start of their discussions, Netanyahu said the nomination was “well-deserved” and praised Trump’s past efforts in promoting peace. The Israeli leader also noted that Israel and the United States were actively working to identify countries willing to offer the Palestinian people a better future.

Trump, who has long portrayed himself as a successful peacemaker and has openly desired the prestigious international award, appeared surprised by the gesture. “Coming from you, this is very meaningful,” Trump told Netanyahu, acknowledging the nomination in front of the press.

The meeting marked the third time the two leaders have come together this year. While the visit was presented as a diplomatic high point, it was overshadowed by the ongoing Gaza conflict, now in its 21st month.

Families of hostages still held in Gaza have been urging for any ceasefire agreement to include provisions for the release of all captives. As Trump and Netanyahu held talks, attention remained fixed on whether the former U.S. president would apply pressure for a resolution to the conflict.

The two leaders were also scheduled to hold a private dinner later in the evening, continuing discussions on regional security, the future of Israeli-Palestinian relations, and the broader implications of peace initiatives in the Middle East.
