The Border Security Force (BSF) today began its week-long “Operation Alert” along the western border with Pakistan, stepping up surveillance and security in response to increasing threats, infiltration attempts, and drone-based smuggling. The exercise will run until August 17.
BSF Inspector General M. L. Garg said the initiative, timed ahead of Independence Day, aims to ensure round-the-clock vigilance. “We will keep a close watch on every activity from across the border. More security checkpoints have been set up, patrolling—both on camels and on foot—has been intensified, and the border is being monitored 24/7 to prevent any undesirable activities,” he stated.
Deputy Inspector General Yogendra Singh Rathore confirmed that additional troops have been deployed. “This exercise ensures no disturbances ahead of August 15. We are committed to stopping any infiltration, smuggling attempts, or malicious acts by anti-national elements,” he said.
The heightened security measures combine expanded patrols, advanced surveillance technology, and rapid response teams to strengthen the defence grid along the sensitive frontier.
