Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, visited the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, where he addressed tri-services officers of the prestigious training institution.
Delivering an in-depth lecture on the strategic and operational framework of the Western Front Strategy, the Army Commander provided a comprehensive perspective on India’s land warfare doctrine. He highlighted the Indian Army’s commitment to countering evolving security challenges with a resolute and well-calibrated approach. Stressing the implications of rapid doctrinal shifts and accelerating technological advancements in the character of modern warfare, Lt Gen Seth underscored the necessity of swift, decisive action to secure favourable outcomes in future conflicts.

He urged the attending officers to cultivate a culture of strategic foresight, strengthen their operational acumen, embrace emerging technologies, and display visionary leadership—qualities he emphasised as critical for shaping battlefield success in the years ahead. His address also touched upon the importance of seamless coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force to ensure a unified and effective response to multi-domain challenges.

As part of the Annual Administrative Inspection, Lt Gen Seth was given a detailed briefing on the institution’s robust training methodologies, academic excellence, and ongoing administrative initiatives. Impressed by the DSSC’s rigorous curriculum and its strong emphasis on tri-services integration, he commended the faculty and instructors for their pivotal role in grooming “scholar warriors” capable of leading in complex operational environments.

He encouraged the officers to carry forward the DSSC tradition of professional excellence, adaptability, and inter-service synergy, reaffirming the college’s role as a cornerstone in preparing India’s defence leadership for the challenges of tomorrow.
