Major General Vivek Tyagi Takes Charge as Additional Director General of NCC Maharashtra Directorate

With over 35 years of service, the veteran officer aims to strengthen NCC’s mission of youth empowerment and nation-building in Maharashtra.

Major General Vivek Tyagi has assumed charge as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Maharashtra Directorate, bringing with him over 35 years of distinguished service in the Indian Army.

An experienced officer, General Tyagi has previously commanded multinational UN peacekeeping forces, earning international recognition for his leadership. A UN report highlighted the effectiveness of Indian officers in global missions under his command. Before this appointment, he served as ADG of West Bengal and Sikkim, where he introduced youth development initiatives in line with the NCC’s ‘Sashaktyuva‘ vision, impacting over a million cadets annually.

Major General Tyagi Takes Charge as Additional Director General of NCC Maharashtra Directorate

In his first address in Mumbai, General Tyagi praised the NCC Maharashtra Directorate for its high standards and urged cadets and staff to continue strengthening the Nation First ethos. His leadership is expected to further the NCC’s legacy, which includes its crucial contribution during the 1962 Sino-Indian War and later conflicts, when trained cadets played a key role as a second line of defense.

The NCC, the world’s largest uniformed youth organization, focuses on character-building, discipline, and leadership among students. With General Tyagi at the helm, the Maharashtra Directorate is set to expand its role in nation-building and youth empowerment.
