UAE-based Caracal, a subsidiary of the EDGE Group, in partnership with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd. (MEIL) arm Icomm Tele, has won a contract to supply 200 CSR 338 sniper rifles to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The rifles will be produced and delivered from the newly inaugurated IcommโCaracal Small Arms Complex in Hyderabad, which serves as a key manufacturing hub for advanced weapons, catering to the Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and global export markets.
The delivery of the first batch of India-produced CSR 338 rifles is slated for the fourth quarter of 2025. The CSR 338 is a high-performance bolt-action sniper rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum, featuring a 27-inch barrel, 10-round magazine, ambidextrous controls, a two-stage adjustable trigger, and a four-position, telescopic foldable stock.
โThis historic transfer of technology marks a significant milestone in UAE-India defence collaboration and reflects our strong commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs Make in India initiative,โ said Hamad Alameri, CEO of Caracal.
Sumanth Paturu, Director of Icomm Tele, added: โTogether with Caracal and EDGE, we are not only supplying CRPF with the most advanced CSR 338 sniper system but also strengthening Indiaโs defence ecosystem by transferring world-class technology and creating high-quality manufacturing jobs in Hyderabad.โ
The contract underscores Indiaโs growing emphasis on indigenous defence production and international collaboration to enhance the countryโs security and self-reliance in critical military technologies.
