The Indian Army is accelerating its adoption of next-generation technologies with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and drone-based training modules at the Grenadiers Regimental Centre in Jabalpur.
During his visit, Lt Gen Ajay Kumar, Director General Infantry, reviewed the newly established AI-enabled Drill Nursery, Tech-Tac Room, and Drone Training Lab. He praised the innovative infrastructure for enhancing soldier preparedness and aligning with the Army’s future warfare requirements.
According to a Journal of Defense Technology study, AI integration in combat simulations can improve response times by up to 30%. The Drone Training Lab further underscores the Army’s focus on autonomous systems, reflecting global military trends where adoption of such technologies has increased operational efficiency by 25%, as noted in a RAND Corporation report.
Lt Gen Kumar also interacted with Agniveers, recruits under the Agnipath scheme, commending their adaptability to modern, tech-driven soldiering. Ministry of Defence data shows a 15% rise in tech-savvy recruits since the program’s launch in 2022.
Reaffirming the Army’s commitment to innovation and operational readiness, Lt Gen Kumar emphasized that the integration of AI and drones marks a significant step in building a future-ready infantry capable of meeting evolving battlefield challenges.
