Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Southern Command, visited Secunderabad Military Station on Sunday to review the operational preparedness of the Bison Division.
During the visit, Lt Gen Seth was given a detailed briefing on the division’s mission readiness, ongoing training initiatives, and future capability development plans, with a particular emphasis on technological integration. He interacted with officers and troops, providing guidance to further strengthen upcoming operational and training commitments.
Commending the division’s innovative approach, the Army Commander lauded its efforts to integrate modern technologies into operational planning, aligning with the Indian Army’s ongoing “Decade of Transformation” initiative. The push towards technological adoption reflects a broader shift towards self-reliance, agility, and adaptability, essential to meeting evolving security challenges.
Drawing from its historical legacy—including its pivotal role as the 17th Infantry Division in the 1961 Goa Liberation—the Bison Division continues to embody operational excellence while adapting to contemporary requirements.
Lt Gen Seth, who assumed command of the Southern Command in July 2024, brings with him a distinguished career spanning instructional roles at the School of Armoured Warfare and recognition as the best all-round student at the Defence Services Staff College. His leadership is seen as key in driving the command’s transformation agenda and reinforcing a resilient defence posture along India’s frontiers.
