Lieutenant General Sanjay Malik, SM, General Officer Commanding 101 Area, formally inaugurated and dedicated the renovated Shillong Cantonment Board Vidya Bajoria Park to the city of Shillong on 25 September.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Major General RK Jha, AVSM (Retd), Director (Personnel), NEEPCO; Sh. Sanbor Shullai, Minister in-charge of Art and Culture, Government of Meghalaya; Brig Rajesh Verma, President, Shillong Cantonment Board; along with senior army officers and officials from NEEPCO Ltd.
The renovation of the park represents a collaborative effort between the Indian Army, the Shillong Cantonment Board, and the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of NEEPCO Ltd, enhancing public spaces for community engagement and recreation.
During the event, Lt Gen Malik highlighted the importance of community-centric initiatives and the role of joint civil-military efforts in improving urban infrastructure. The upgraded park now offers a rejuvenated environment for residents and visitors, symbolizing synergy between the military, local administration, and corporate partners.
