The Department of Posts (DoP), in collaboration with the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW), has launched a dedicated medicine delivery service for beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). The initiative aims to provide pickup, booking, transmission, and doorstep delivery of medicines that are not available at ECHS polyclinics.
Under the new service, medicines will be procured and packaged through Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) Common Service Centres (CSCs) located at ECHS polyclinics, while logistics and delivery will be handled by India Post’s extensive and trusted network, ensuring medicines reach beneficiaries securely and efficiently across the country.
Pilot Success and Nationwide Expansion
The initiative was first piloted in Delhi on 31st July 2025, receiving an encouraging response, with over 1,700 medicine packets delivered. Following its success, the service expanded to the NCR region, covering Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. A comprehensive mapping of 458 ECHS locations nationwide has now been completed, and the service is being rolled out across the country from October 17, 2025.
