In a landmark development reflecting India’s growing focus on jointness and integrated defence preparedness, the Eastern Command successfully conducted its first-ever Tri-Services Integrated Exercise, bringing together the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force under a unified operational framework.
The large-scale exercise, conducted under the aegis of Eastern Command, covered vast expanses of the Eastern Theatre, including the strategically significant Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas. It was designed to validate integrated warfighting concepts, joint planning, and synchronized execution across the Land, Air, Maritime, Cyber, and Electromagnetic domains — the key pillars of modern multi-domain operations.
The exercise aimed to test and enhance joint situational awareness, rapid decision-making, and the seamless application of combat power across different terrains and operational environments. It also focused on enhancing interoperability, real-time information sharing, and coordinated responses to conventional and hybrid threats.
By incorporating realistic combat scenarios, cyber operations, electronic warfare, and maritime surveillance elements, the drill underscored the Indian Armed Forces’ capability to respond effectively to grey-zone challenges and multi-dimensional contingencies.
The successful conduct of this maiden tri-services exercise marks a significant step towards integrated theatre operations, a key component of India’s future military strategy aimed at optimizing resources, reducing redundancy, and strengthening national security.
