According to the Ministry of Defence, a 120-member Indian Army contingent is participating in the two-week-long exercise, which will continue till October 26, 2025. The contingent is being led by a Battalion of the Gorkha Rifles, accompanied by personnel from various supporting arms and services.

The joint exercise aims to enhance military cooperation, interoperability, and understanding between the Indian and Australian Armies. It will serve as a platform for sharing tactics, techniques, and procedures in sub-conventional warfare, especially in urban and semi-urban terrains.

This year’s edition will focus on joint company-level operations in open and semi-desert terrain, involving joint planning, tactical drills, and special arms skills. The exercise will also integrate emerging military technologies and promote the ability to operate together in complex combat environments.

Officials noted that AUSTRAHIND 2025 will provide both armies with a valuable opportunity to hone operational capabilities, strengthen mutual trust, and foster camaraderie.

The ongoing collaboration underscores the growing India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and reaffirms both nations’ commitment to maintaining peace, stability, and a free Indo-Pacific region.
