In a tragic incident at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Cadet Aditya D Yadav (18 Years) of the I Term lost his life during a supervised swimming practice session on Thursday evening.
According to official sources, the incident took place around 5 p.m. during an organised swimming practice for weak swimmers under the supervision of instructors. While swimming across the width of the pool, Cadet Yadav was suddenly found motionless on the surface of the water.
Two lifeguards immediately jumped in and pulled him out. Despite the prompt administration of CPR and on-site medical assistance, followed by urgent evacuation to Military Hospital, Khadakwasla, the cadet could not be revived.
The NDA authorities have expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The next of kin and civil police have been informed, and a formal inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
