Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Monday said that wars are not fought by the armed forces alone but by the entire nation, highlighting the collective role of political leaders, diplomats, and soldiers in safeguarding Indiaโs sovereignty.
Addressing the 128th Foundation Day celebrations of Scindia School in Gwalior, General Chauhan reflected on Operation Sindoor, conducted in May, describing it as a defining moment that created a โnew matrix of decision and timing in warfare.โ
He said the successful precision air strikes on terror hubs across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) demonstrated Indiaโs evolving military capability and strategic confidence. โAfter Operation Sindoor, a new normal has emerged โ talks and terrorism cannot go hand in hand. The country cannot tolerate even the threat of a nuclear attack,โ he stated firmly.
General Chauhanโs remarks underscored Indiaโs growing assertiveness in defending its national interests and the importance of unity between the government, armed forces, and citizens during times of conflict.
The event, held at the historic Gwalior Fort, was attended by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, school alumni, and parents.
