Pune-based Zynetra Defence has successfully conducted trials of its indigenous Punisher Multi-Purpose Gun Mount, specifically developed for Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) operations, at Akhnoor in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Punisher gun mount is designed to deliver precise firepower across a range of calibres from 7.62mm to 14.5mm, featuring interchangeable weapon cradles, semi-automatic operation, targeted sighting integration, and a high-torque brushless DC motor with 12-hour battery backup. These features ensure reliable performance in diverse operational conditions.
Trials at Akhnoor, a strategically sensitive region, validated the system’s target acquisition, tracking, and neutralisation capabilities, essential for countering hostile drone threats along the Indo-Pak border. The system is also compatible with existing surveillance and defence networks, reinforcing forward-area operational readiness.
The indigenous development of the Punisher gun mount aligns with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, showcasing private-sector innovation in supporting frontline forces with advanced, homegrown technology. Officials highlighted that the system offers flexible, multi-role capability, making it a potential critical asset in India’s layered air defence strategy.
The success of the trials demonstrates the growing capability of Indian defence manufacturers to provide tailored solutions for modern asymmetric threats, reducing import dependence while boosting the national defence industrial base. Further refinements and operational deployment are expected to expand the use of the Punisher across various branches of the Indian Armed Forces.
This achievement underscores India’s commitment to indigenous innovation and strategic preparedness, particularly in high-threat border regions.
