A delegation of High Command (HC) Course Officers from the Army War College (AWC), Mhow, undertook a significant visit to the National Defence University (NDU) in Astana as part of an ongoing effort to deepen strategic engagement and military-to-military cooperation between India and Kazakhstan.

During their interactions with faculty and officers of NDU, the delegation discussed a wide range of subjects including national security strategies, regional stability, counterterrorism cooperation, peacekeeping operations, and the growing importance of defence education exchange programmes. Both sides emphasized the need to enhance interoperability, share operational experiences, and explore avenues for joint military training in emerging domains such as cyber and space security.

The Indian officers also visited the Military Cadet College and the Military Museum, where they were briefed on Kazakhstan’s military training frameworks, cadet grooming standards, and the nation’s rich military history. The visits offered valuable insights into Kazakhstan’s defence institutions and their evolving approach to modern warfare and professional military education.

This engagement forms a vital part of India’s expanding defence diplomacy efforts in Central Asia, underlining the shared commitment to regional peace, capacity building, and mutual learning. The visit not only fostered strategic understanding but also strengthened cultural and people-to-people ties between the armed forces of both nations.
Through such exchanges, the Indian Army continues to project its vision of cooperative security and global partnership, furthering India’s role as a responsible and proactive stakeholder in regional stability.
