India has launched a large-scale tri-service military exercise titled ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ in the high-altitude terrain of Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh, marking a significant step in strengthening joint warfighting capability and technological integration among the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
According to Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, the exercise aims to validate multi-domain operations across land, air, and maritime spheres, reflecting the Armed Forces’ evolving readiness for technology-driven and future-oriented warfare.
Focus on Integrated Warfighting and Innovation
‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ is designed to enhance interoperability between the services through networked command and control systems, real-time data sharing, and integrated mission simulations. The drills will test new operational doctrines and decision-making frameworks tailored for mountainous battlefields.
A major highlight will be the synchronised deployment of special forces, unmanned aerial and ground systems, precision-guided weapons, and AI-enabled data networks—all operating in coordination to simulate realistic high-altitude combat scenarios.
Advancing Joint Operations Doctrine
The exercise will also evaluate revised tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to boost combat agility, adaptability, and rapid response capabilities in extreme terrains. This effort is part of India’s broader push toward a future-ready, joint-force structure capable of executing multi-domain operations seamlessly.
Building on Previous Successes
‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ follows a series of successful joint exercises—‘Bhala Prahar’ (2023) and ‘Poorvi Prahar’ (2024)—each progressively advancing India’s tri-service integration roadmap. Together, they represent a sustained effort to strengthen collective operational effectiveness along India’s sensitive eastern frontiers.
Lt Col Mahendra Rawat stated that the exercise reaffirms the Indian Armed Forces’ commitment to operational synergy, technological modernisation, and national defence preparedness, underscoring India’s capability to respond decisively across all domains of warfare.
