ATS Arresting

In a major counterintelligence breakthrough, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday busted an espionage network operating out of Ahmedabad and detained two suspects for allegedly leaking classified information to Pakistan.

According to officials, the accused have been identified as AK Singh, a former Subedar in the Indian Army residing in Goa, and Rashmani Pal, a resident of Daman. Preliminary investigation suggests both were in contact with Pakistani handlers and were actively passing sensitive military information.

This development comes just weeks after the ATS arrested another terror module on November 9. In that case, three suspects—Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, Mohd Suhel, and Azad—were apprehended near the Adalaj Toll Plaza while allegedly supplying weapons for planned terrorist attacks across India. The recovery included two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges, and 4 litres of castor oil.

According to the ATS statement, the trio was conspiring to carry out coordinated terror strikes in multiple locations across the country.

Earlier, on July 23, the ATS arrested four suspected terrorists with alleged links to Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). They were identified as Mohd Faiq (Delhi), Mohd Fardeen (Ahmedabad), Sefullah Kureshi (Modasa, Aravalli), and Zeeshan Ali (Noida).

Confirming the arrests, ATS DIG Sunil Joshi said the suspects had been under surveillance for activities indicating possible connections to AQIS, a proscribed organisation affiliated with Al Qaeda.

The string of arrests highlights the Gujarat ATS’s sustained efforts to dismantle espionage and terror networks targeting India’s national security.
