The Indian Navy is set to commission its second MH-60R Seahawk helicopter squadron, INAS 335 (Ospreys), on December 17, 2025, at INS Hansa, Goa, marking a significant milestone in the Navy’s aviation modernisation drive.
The commissioning ceremony will be held in the presence of Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, and will formally induct the squadron into frontline naval operations.

Equipped with advanced sensors, avionics, and weapon systems, the MH-60R helicopters significantly enhance the Indian Navy’s ability to counter both conventional and asymmetric threats. The platform is designed for multi-role operations, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, surveillance, and search-and-rescue missions.
According to officials, the MH-60R aircraft have already been fully integrated with fleet operations and have demonstrated their operational effectiveness on multiple occasions. The induction of INAS 335 will provide a major boost to the Navy’s integral aviation capabilities, strengthening maritime domain awareness and combat readiness across the Indian Ocean Region.

The commissioning of the Ospreys squadron underscores the Indian Navy’s continued focus on capability enhancement, technological modernisation, and operational preparedness in an increasingly complex maritime security environment.
