Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), visited the Mechanised Infantry Centre and School (MIC&S) on January 5 to conduct a comprehensive review of training standards, instructional methodology, and modern training infrastructure.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on the conduct of ongoing courses for officers, junior leaders, and soldiers of the Mechanised Infantry, including specialised modules tailored to contemporary battlefield requirements. He reviewed state-of-the-art training facilities, advanced simulators, and field training areas that are central to preparing troops for mechanised and combined-arms operations in diverse terrains and operational environments.

Lt Gen Sharma interacted extensively with instructors, officer cadets, and soldiers undergoing training, including trainees from Friendly Foreign Countries, reflecting Indiaโs growing role in international military education and cooperation. He appreciated the high standards of professionalism, discipline, and instructional quality maintained by MIC&S, commending all ranks for their dedication to shaping combat-ready and technically proficient mechanised infantrymen.

Emphasising the evolving character of warfare, the Army Commander encouraged personnel to sustain a rigorous and adaptive training regimen. He stressed the importance of fostering innovation, rapidly absorbing emerging technologies, and integrating lessons from recent conflicts to enhance battlefield effectiveness. He underlined that future operations will demand agility, networked combat capabilities, and seamless coordination with armour, artillery, aviation, and unmanned systems.
Lt Gen Sharma highlighted that MIC&S plays a pivotal role in transforming the Mechanised Infantry Arm into a modern, agile, and future-ready force capable of operating across the full spectrum of conflictโfrom conventional operations to hybrid and technology-driven warfare.

The visit reaffirmed ARTRACโs continued focus on capability development, modernisation of training curricula, technology-driven instruction, and international military cooperation, ensuring that the Indian Armyโs Mechanised Infantry remains prepared to meet present and future operational challenges with confidence and combat excellence.
