Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, met with the Director General and Principal Advisor of the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers to deliberate on the future procurement roadmap of Northern Command, with a strong focus on strengthening indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.

The interaction centred on the planned induction of new-generation equipment and the assimilation of advanced technologies within the Indian Army, particularly across Northern Command’s operational spectrum. Discussions highlighted the importance of close collaboration between the Army and domestic industry to accelerate innovation, ensure timely availability of critical systems, and enhance self-reliance in line with national priorities.

The meeting also set the context for the upcoming North Tech Symposium, where technology-driven solutions, indigenisation initiatives and future battlefield requirements are expected to take centre stage.

The engagement reaffirmed Northern Command’s commitment to partnering with Indian defence manufacturers to build a modern, agile and future-ready force through indigenous capability development.
