The Mantripukhri Battalion of Assam Rifles organised a felicitation ceremony on 14 March 2026 to honour Lieutenant Wikhamlubou Pamei, a young officer recently commissioned into the Indian Army from the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

Senior officials of Assam Rifles, along with troops, participated in the event to celebrate the officer’s achievement and inspire young people from the region to pursue careers in the armed forces.

Pride of Tamenglong District
Lt Wikhamlubou Pamei hails from Kuilong village in Tamenglong district of Manipur and is currently residing at Kanglatongbi in Imphal West. His journey from a remote village in the hill district to becoming a commissioned officer has become a source of immense pride for his family and community.

Inspiration for Youth
During the ceremony, speakers highlighted that Lt Pamei’s achievement reflects perseverance, dedication and a strong commitment to serving the nation. His success was also presented as a motivating example for the youth of Manipur, encouraging them to aim for careers in the armed forces and contribute to nation building.
The event reaffirmed Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to recognise local achievements and motivate young people from the Northeast to join the Indian Armed Forces.
