Cadets from the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune visited the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC), Belagavi from 11 to 14 March 2026 as part of an educational and training exposure programme.

The visiting contingent comprised one officer, one NCO and 39 cadets, who were given an opportunity to experience the rich regimental legacy, traditions and training ethos of the Maratha Light Infantry.
During the visit, the cadets interacted with the Commandant of the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre, gaining valuable insights into the regiment’s history, operational role and training standards. The programme also included visits to key training establishments such as the Commando Wing and Rashtriya Military School (RMS), Belagavi, where cadets observed various aspects of military training and leadership development.

A major highlight of the visit was an adventure activity—white water rafting on the Kali River at Dandeli, which provided the cadets with an exciting opportunity to develop teamwork, endurance and confidence.
The visit also included local sightseeing, offering cadets a chance to explore the region while strengthening camaraderie and learning outside the classroom.

Overall, the four-day programme served as a memorable blend of learning, adventure and regimental heritage, giving the CME cadets valuable exposure to the traditions and operational culture of one of the Indian Army’s distinguished infantry regiments.
