Under the aegis of Eastern Command, an ‘Orientation Programme for Spouses of Young Officers’ was conducted with participation from 25 military stations, reinforcing the support framework for Army families.
The event was chaired by Mrs Ashima Malhotra, Regional Vice President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Eastern Command. The programme provided a comprehensive overview of AWWA’s vision, welfare initiatives and avenues for self-reliance.
Key themes included digital engagement, social media awareness, etiquette and protocols, as well as an understanding of regimental ethos and traditions. The sessions aimed at equipping spouses with the knowledge and confidence to effectively navigate military life while contributing positively to the welfare ecosystem.
The initiative underscored the vital role of Army wives in strengthening family support systems, fostering community cohesion and upholding the enduring values and traditions of the Indian Army.
