Foreign Officer Cadet (Women) Srijana Ghalley was born in Samtse, Bhutan, into a humble family of eight. Growing up in a modest environment far removed from the world of military traditions, her early life had little exposure to uniforms or armed forces.
However, a single moment changed the course of her life. As a young girl, she once saw a military officer passing through her village in a crisp uniform. That brief encounter left a lasting impression, igniting a deep aspiration within her to serve her nation in uniform.
From that day forward, the dream of joining the military began shaping her ambitions.
Academic Excellence and a Corporate Career
Determined to build a strong foundation, Srijana pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering. After graduating, she began her professional career as a software engineer at Selise in Bhutan.
Her corporate job offered stability and a promising future in the technology sector. Yet, despite the comfort and opportunities of a professional career, she felt a stronger calling toward service and leadership.
The desire to serve her nation ultimately outweighed the attraction of corporate success.

Choosing Service Over Comfort
Leaving behind a stable career path, Srijana made the bold decision to pursue a military career. Her choice reflected the timeless military ethos of “service before self.”
She joined the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, one of the premier institutions responsible for training officers for the Indian Army and friendly foreign nations.
Entering the academy marked the beginning of a transformative journey filled with discipline, endurance, and determination.
Rigorous Training at OTA Chennai
Life at OTA Chennai is designed to test the physical, mental, and emotional strength of officer cadets. Over nine months of intensive training, Srijana experienced demanding routines, tactical exercises, physical endurance tests, and leadership development programs.
Training alongside cadets from India and various friendly foreign countries, she developed strong bonds of camaraderie and mutual respect.
The rigorous environment helped shape her into a confident leader, reinforcing the belief that true resilience is forged through hardship rather than comfort.
A Transformational Journey
Throughout her training, Srijana embraced every challenge with determination. The academy instilled in her the values of discipline, courage, leadership, and responsibility.
Standing shoulder to shoulder with fellow cadets from different nations, she absorbed the spirit of international military cooperation and teamwork.
By the end of the training cycle, she had transformed from a young engineer with a dream into a disciplined and capable military officer.

An Inspiration for Future Leaders
