Brother Sister Duo Who Became Indian Army Officers

Lieutenant Mansi Dixit and Lieutenant Priyanshu Dixit, a brother-sister duo from a remote village in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district, have been commissioned together as officers in the Indian Army, marking a proud and historic moment for their family and community. The siblings were commissioned during the Passing Out Parade at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on March 7, 2026. With this achievement, they have become the first individuals from their village to attain commissioned officer status in the Indian Armed Forces.

Mansi Dixit, aged 25, is the elder of the two and holds an LLB degree from Delhi University. Her journey to becoming an Army officer was marked by persistence and determination. She was recommended for the academy five times before finally securing admission, demonstrating remarkable resilience in pursuing her dream. Her younger brother, Priyanshu Dixit, aged 23, completed a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and joined the academy through the NCC Special Entry Scheme. Their shared training journey at OTA turned the demanding experience into one filled with mutual encouragement, as they supported and motivated each other throughout the rigorous course.

The siblings’ motivation to serve the nation is deeply rooted in their family background. Their father, Vijender Bahadur Dixit, had once aspired to join the armed forces himself. A former Rashtriya Defence Corps cadet and NCC participant, he could not pursue a military career due to medical unfitness. However, he instilled discipline, determination, and a strong sense of duty in his children from a young age. He regularly conducted morning study sessions for them and emphasized the importance of dedication and hard work. For him, seeing both his children commissioned as officers represents the fulfillment of a dream he could not achieve himself.

Growing up in a rural setting, the siblings often traveled around 15 kilometers daily to attend school, strengthening their bond and reinforcing their determination to succeed. Their upbringing in a modest environment shaped their character and instilled values of perseverance and commitment, which ultimately helped them reach the parade ground at OTA Chennai.

After commissioning, Lieutenant Mansi Dixit has been assigned to the Army Aviation Corps, while Lieutenant Priyanshu Dixit will serve in the infantry with the Sikh Regiment. Their simultaneous commissioning not only fulfills their personal ambitions but also highlights the growing opportunities for youth from rural India to achieve excellence in the armed forces.

Reflecting on their training experience, the siblings described their time at the academy as challenging yet memorable. Lieutenant Mansi Dixit acknowledged that her brother’s constant encouragement played a crucial role in helping her stay motivated throughout the demanding training process. Lieutenant Priyanshu Dixit expressed pride in training alongside his sister and in beginning their journey of service to the nation together.

Their father expressed immense pride and emotional satisfaction at the milestone, describing it as a moment of fulfillment. For him, watching his children achieve what he once dreamed of has brought a sense of completion and pride to the family.

The remarkable achievement of Lieutenant Mansi Dixit and Lieutenant Priyanshu Dixit has turned them into role models for young people in their village and beyond. Their story stands as a powerful example of how determination, family support, and unwavering dedication can overcome geographical and socio-economic barriers. As they begin their careers in the Indian Army, the siblings carry with them not only their personal aspirations but also the hopes and pride of their family, village, and the nation.
