Lieutenant General Rajiv K Sahni, Director General of Electronics & Mechanical Engineers (DG EME) and Colonel Commandant, visited Konark Corps and EME units in Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Nagtalao to review technical capabilities and operational support initiatives.
During the visit, the General Officer interacted with personnel and reviewed the engineering support framework sustaining combat-critical equipment, which plays a vital role in maintaining operational readiness of formations.

Focus on Indigenous Technology and Innovation
Lt Gen Sahni commended the “Konark Eagles” for maintaining high mission reliability of critical combat equipment and for establishing an in-house ecosystem for mass production and sustainment of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-UAS (CUAS).
These initiatives highlight the Indian Army’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat, strengthening indigenous defence capabilities and reducing dependence on external sources.

Additive Manufacturing and Robotics
The DG EME also appreciated the use of additive manufacturing technologies to address engineering challenges and improve maintenance efficiency in operational areas.
He further lauded the efforts of the Konark Corps Technology Centre, which has developed advanced technical infrastructure using robotics and cobotics to enhance engineering support capabilities.

Strengthening Tech Infusion in the Army
The visit underscored the Indian Army’s growing emphasis on technology infusion, innovation and indigenous solutions to ensure reliable technical support for modern combat systems and future battlefield requirements.
