Surgeon Vice Admiral Vivek Hande, Director General (Organisation & Personnel), Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), visited Command Hospital (Eastern Command), Kolkata, on March 5, 2026, to review medical facilities and operational aspects of the premier military healthcare institution.
During the visit, the Commandant of the hospital briefed the Flag Officer on various aspects including patient care services, ongoing training initiatives, best practices and recent innovations in medical management.

Surg Vice Adm Hande also inspected several key departments, including the MRI facility and the recently renovated Accident and Emergency Centre, assessing the hospital’s capability to deliver advanced medical care to serving personnel, veterans and their families.

The Flag Officer interacted with officers, medical staff and support personnel, appreciating their dedication and professionalism in maintaining high standards of patient care and medical training.

He also commended the hospital for the steady pace of infrastructure development and adoption of modern medical technologies, which continue to strengthen the Armed Forces’ healthcare ecosystem.
