Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, visited INS Shivaji from March 25–26 to review operational readiness and training standards.

During the visit, Vice Adm Saxena assessed the unit’s commitment to maintaining high standards of professional training and operational preparedness, reaffirming the Indian Navy’s focus on excellence in technical and engineering domains.

On the occasion, he inaugurated a Foreign Trainee Accommodation Block, aimed at enhancing facilities for international trainees, and unveiled an Advanced Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) Training Simulator, which will significantly upgrade hands-on technical training capabilities.

The new infrastructure is expected to strengthen training delivery, improve capacity, and support the Navy’s expanding role in training personnel from friendly foreign nations.
The visit underscores the Indian Navy’s continued emphasis on modernising training infrastructure and building a highly skilled, future-ready force capable of meeting evolving maritime challenges.
