In a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh, Assistant Professor Dr Balbir Singh from the Department of Commerce at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, has been commissioned as a Lieutenant in the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
He achieved this milestone after successfully completing rigorous training at the Officers Training Academy Nagpur, marking a significant accomplishment for both the institution and the region.

Felicitation Ceremony Held
A felicitation ceremony was organised at the college to honour Dr Balbir Singh. Principal Sanjeev Kumar, along with NCC officers including Flying Officer Dr Chaman Lal Kranti Singh, congratulated him and presented a memento in recognition of his achievement.
Faculty members, NCC cadets, and staff attended the event, celebrating his success and contribution.
Rigorous Training and Leadership Role
Dr Balbir completed a three-month PRCN training course at OTA Nagpur, conducted under the guidelines of the National Cadet Corps. He had earlier served as the Caretaker Officer of the NCC Army Wing at the college.
During the ceremony, a ceremonial baton was handed over to him, symbolising leadership, discipline, and responsibility.
Inspiration for Youth
College authorities highlighted that his achievement will serve as an inspiration for students, encouraging greater participation in NCC activities to develop leadership and discipline.
Dr Balbir Singh, an alumnus of the college and Himachal Pradesh University, has also contributed academically with multiple research publications, reflecting excellence in both education and service.
