Major General Bharat Mehtani assumed command of the Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area on May 30, 2026.
An accomplished officer with more than three decades of distinguished service in the Indian Army, Maj Gen Mehtani brings with him extensive operational and command experience gained across diverse terrains and theatres of operations throughout his military career.
Upon taking over command, the General Officer paid homage to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation, reaffirming the Army’s enduring respect for its fallen heroes.
Addressing personnel, Maj Gen Mehtani emphasised the importance of professionalism, operational excellence and unwavering commitment to duty. He encouraged all ranks to continue striving for excellence across the entire spectrum of military responsibilities while upholding the highest traditions and values of the Indian Army.
Officials stated that the new commander’s vast operational experience and leadership credentials will further strengthen the formation’s efforts in maintaining operational readiness, administrative efficiency and welfare initiatives for serving personnel, veterans and their families.
The assumption of command marks a new chapter for Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area as it continues to support military operations, infrastructure development and welfare activities across the region.
