The College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune, conducted a specialised Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Orientation Training Programme for 47 officers from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) undergoing the Medical Officers Junior Command Course and Advanced Military Dentistry Course on 19 June 2026.
The training programme was designed to enhance the preparedness of military medical professionals in responding to emergencies arising from unconventional warfare scenarios and CBRN-related incidents.
During the orientation, participating officers received comprehensive exposure to life-saving procedures and operational protocols associated with CBRN environments. The training focused on critical aspects such as CBRN decontamination workflows, mass casualty triaging, casualty evacuation procedures and the management of injuries resulting from chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

The programme also highlighted the importance of coordinated medical response mechanisms during large-scale emergencies, equipping officers with practical knowledge required to operate effectively in complex and high-risk situations.
Officials noted that the training forms an important component of military medical preparedness, enabling healthcare professionals to respond swiftly and efficiently to emerging threats in modern warfare environments. The sessions were designed to strengthen operational readiness and improve the ability of medical officers to provide timely and effective care under challenging conditions.
The initiative reflects the Indian Armed Forces’ emphasis on inter-service collaboration and professional development, bringing together expertise from military engineering and medical institutions to address evolving security and healthcare challenges.
By exposing officers to specialised CBRN response procedures, the programme contributes to building a more capable and resilient military healthcare system prepared to support operational requirements across the full spectrum of conflict scenarios.
The training concluded with participants gaining valuable insights into modern CBRN defence measures, casualty management techniques and emergency response protocols, further enhancing their professional competence and readiness to serve in demanding operational environments.
