Commodore Urooj Athar, Commodore Naval Education, visited Porbandar and Okha from June 8 to 9, 2026, to review educational infrastructure and academic initiatives across the Gujarat Naval Area.
During the visit, Commodore Athar inspected the facilities at Navy Children School, Porbandar, and reviewed various educational institutions and initiatives aimed at enhancing learning outcomes and holistic development within the naval community.

He also interacted with Rear Admiral Sritanu Guru, Flag Officer Gujarat Naval Area (FOGNA), along with school leadership, education officers and staff members. Discussions focused on strengthening academic standards, improving educational infrastructure and fostering an environment conducive to the overall growth of students.
The visit included a comprehensive review of ongoing educational programmes and initiatives designed to support academic excellence, character development and co-curricular engagement among children of naval personnel.

Commodore Athar appreciated the efforts being undertaken by educational institutions in the Gujarat Naval Area and emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards of teaching, innovation and student welfare. He also highlighted the role of quality education in nurturing future leaders and contributing to the well-being of the naval community.
