Pakyong, Sikkim: In a significant gesture of respect for India’s armed forces and a renewed commitment to preserving the legacy of the nation’s military heroes, District Collector of Pakyong, Mrs. Pari Bishnoi, visited the Sikkim Prerna Sthal (State Bravehearts Memorial) at Bardang. During her visit, she paid heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Army who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The visit underscored the district administration’s commitment to strengthening the bond between civil authorities and the armed forces while ensuring that the stories of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism continue to inspire future generations.
At the memorial, Mrs. Bishnoi offered floral tributes and observed a solemn moment of remembrance in honour of the soldiers whose unwavering dedication and selfless service safeguarded the nation’s sovereignty. The Sikkim Prerna Sthal stands as a symbol of the state’s deep association with the Indian Armed Forces and commemorates the valour of military personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
As part of the visit, the District Collector also held discussions with the Commanding Officer of the Army Unit at Bardang regarding the future development of the Sikkim Prerna Sthal under the Ranbhoomi Darshan initiative. The meeting focused on enhancing military-civil cooperation to further develop the memorial into a meaningful destination that honours India’s fallen heroes while educating visitors about their extraordinary sacrifices.
A key focus of the discussions was the improvement of the memorial’s infrastructure and visitor experience. Plans were reviewed to enhance public amenities, improve accessibility, and create better facilities for students, tourists, veterans, and citizens visiting the site. The objective is to transform the memorial into a centre of remembrance, education, and patriotic inspiration.
Both the district administration and the Indian Army also explored avenues for sustained collaboration in maintaining the memorial and organising awareness programmes, commemorative events, and educational activities that highlight Sikkim’s rich military heritage. Such initiatives are expected to encourage greater public engagement with the history of the Indian Armed Forces and foster a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by soldiers in defence of the nation.

Mrs. Bishnoi emphasised that preserving the legacy of India’s bravehearts is a collective responsibility and that memorials such as the Sikkim Prerna Sthal play a vital role in keeping their memories alive. She noted that these memorials are not merely monuments but enduring symbols of courage, duty, honour, and patriotism that inspire citizens to uphold the values for which the soldiers fought and sacrificed.

She further observed that exposing young people to such memorials helps cultivate a sense of national pride and responsibility while providing valuable insights into the dedication and resilience of India’s armed forces. By strengthening initiatives like Ranbhoomi Darshan, the administration aims to ensure that future generations remain connected with the stories of heroism that have shaped the nation’s history.

The visit reflects the growing emphasis on preserving military heritage through active cooperation between civil administration and the armed forces. As development plans for the Sikkim Prerna Sthal move forward, the memorial is expected to emerge as an important patriotic landmark, honouring the legacy of India’s fallen soldiers while serving as a place of reflection, learning, and inspiration for generations to come.
