Dhana, July 27: The Combat Leadership Course conducted at the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO) Academy, Dhana, concluded successfully on July 25, 2026, marking another milestone in enhancing joint operational capabilities and leadership among junior leaders of the Indian Armed Forces. The course brought together Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) from the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force for an intensive training programme designed to prepare them for the evolving nature of modern warfare.
The specialised curriculum focused on the concepts of jointness and integration, reflecting the Armed Forces’ growing emphasis on seamless coordination between the services in an era of rapidly transforming battlefields. Through a combination of classroom instruction, practical exercises, and leadership training, participants were equipped with the skills required to operate effectively in multi-domain operations and technologically advanced combat environments.
The programme aimed to strengthen tactical decision-making, battlefield leadership, and inter-service cooperation among junior leaders who play a crucial role in executing missions at the ground level. As warfare continues to evolve with the increasing use of advanced technologies, network-centric operations, and integrated force structures, the training sought to prepare NCOs to lead with confidence and adaptability.
The valedictory event was addressed by Brigadier Lalit Sharma, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal, Commandant of the NCO Academy, Dhana. In his address, he shared valuable insights on the Indian Army’s “Decade of Transformation” and highlighted the indispensable role of junior leaders in shaping combat effectiveness. He emphasised that Non-Commissioned Officers remain the backbone of military units, bridging the gap between officers and soldiers while ensuring discipline, motivation, and operational success under challenging conditions.
Brigadier Sharma also underscored the importance of embracing change, adopting new technologies, and strengthening jointmanship to meet the demands of future conflicts. He encouraged the participants to continue developing professionally and to lead by example in their respective units.
During the closing ceremony, Havildar Kalu Ram Gurjar of the Rajput Regiment was honoured with the Army Commander Army Training Command (ARTRAC) Medal after being adjudged the Overall Best Student of the course. The prestigious award recognised his exceptional performance, leadership qualities, professional competence, and consistent excellence throughout the training.
The successful completion of the Combat Leadership Course reflects the Indian Armed Forces’ continued commitment to developing capable, adaptable, and future-ready junior leaders. By fostering inter-service cooperation and enhancing leadership skills at the NCO level, the academy continues to contribute significantly to building a more integrated and operationally effective fighting force prepared to meet emerging security challenges.
