Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, July 26: The Infantry School, Mhow, successfully concluded the Indian Army’s first Advanced Drone Pilot Training Course for Infantry Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) on 25 July 2026, marking a significant milestone in the Army’s efforts to strengthen battlefield capabilities through the integration of unmanned aerial systems.
The pioneering course was designed to provide selected Infantry NCOs with advanced technical knowledge and tactical expertise in military drone operations. The training equipped participants with the skills required to independently plan, execute and integrate drone missions in modern battlefield scenarios, enhancing operational effectiveness and situational awareness.
As drones continue to play an increasingly vital role in reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition and tactical operations, the course reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to modernising its combat capabilities and preparing soldiers for technology-driven warfare.
The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Brig MI Khan, VSM, Commander, Weapons and Trials Wing, who delivered the closing address. He congratulated the participants for successfully completing the demanding programme and highlighted the growing importance of drone technology in contemporary military operations.
During the ceremony, outstanding performers were recognised for their excellence throughout the course. Naik Shubham Pathania of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (JAK RIF) was adjudged the Best Student, earning distinction for his exceptional performance in both the technical and tactical aspects of drone operations.
The successful completion of the first Advanced Drone Pilot Training Course represents another important step in the Indian Army’s ongoing transformation towards a technology-enabled force. By empowering Infantry Non-Commissioned Officers with advanced drone-operating skills, the Army is enhancing its ability to conduct precise, integrated and mission-ready operations across diverse operational environments.
