Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth felicitated five veterans with the Yoddha Seva Samman during his ongoing visit to Western Command, recognising their exemplary contributions to society and nation-building after retirement.
The awardees included Colonel Mandip Grewal, SM* (Retd), Honorary Captain Balwinder Singh (Retd), Honorary Captain Dharam Singh (Retd), Honorary Captain Ashok Singh (Retd) and Dafadar Pratap Singh (Retd).
The Yoddha Seva Samman, carrying the message “Karm Se Gaurav, Seva Se Vijay” and “Honour Through Action, Victory Through Service”, recognises veterans who have continued to contribute to the nation and society even after completing their active military service.
The honoured veterans have made notable contributions across diverse areas, including veteran welfare, youth empowerment, education, environmental conservation and community service. Their continued engagement reflects the values of discipline, responsibility and service cultivated during their military careers.
General Dhiraj Seth acknowledged the enduring contribution of the veteran community towards society and nation-building. He lauded the awardees for maintaining their spirit of service and continuing to work for the welfare and development of communities after retirement.
The felicitation also highlighted the Indian Army’s enduring relationship with its veteran fraternity. Veterans continue to play an important role in mentoring younger generations, supporting fellow ex-servicemen and contributing to social and community initiatives across the country.
