The Indian Air Force celebrated a remarkable milestone as veteran MWO (HFO) Narayan Ramakrishnan (Retd) marked his 100th birthday on September 11, 2026, completing a century of life and decades of service to the nation.
Born on September 11, 1926, Narayan Ramakrishnan served the Indian Air Force with distinction during a career spanning several decades. He retired from the service in 1981, leaving behind a legacy that continues to be remembered by the Air Force fraternity.
The centenary celebration was made particularly memorable by the presence of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), who joined IAF veterans in celebrating the veteran’s 100th birthday and honouring his lifetime of service.
The Indian Air Force shared the occasion as a tribute not only to Ramakrishnan’s longevity but also to the generations of air warriors who helped build and strengthen the service over the decades.
“A Century of Life. A Legacy of Service,” the IAF said while highlighting the veteran’s extraordinary milestone.
Having been born nearly six years before the establishment of the Indian Air Force in 1932, Ramakrishnan has witnessed almost the entire journey of the service, from its formative years to its emergence as one of the world’s major air forces.
His 100th birthday stands as a rare and inspiring milestone for the IAF community — celebrating a century lived and a legacy of service that continues to endure.
