Pune, October 23, 2026: A delegation of ten young military officers from Vietnam visited the National Defence Academy (NDA) at Khadakwasla, Pune, gaining firsthand insights into India’s premier tri-service military training institution and its distinctive approach to developing future military leaders.
During the visit, the Vietnamese officers were introduced to the NDA’s unique training philosophy, which brings together cadets from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force under a common training framework. The Academy’s emphasis on jointmanship, discipline, leadership and military professionalism forms the foundation of its training programme.
The visiting officers also learned about the integration of women cadets into the Academy’s training environment, reflecting the evolving role of women in India’s Armed Forces and the institution’s commitment to preparing future officers through a shared military training experience.
As part of the engagement, the Vietnamese delegation interacted with NDA instructors and staff, exchanging perspectives on military training methodologies, leadership development and professional military education.
The interactions provided an opportunity for both sides to share experiences and gain a better understanding of their respective military training systems, while promoting mutual understanding and professional cooperation.
The visit also highlighted the growing importance of defence engagement between India and Vietnam, two countries that maintain longstanding diplomatic and strategic relations.
India and Vietnam have steadily expanded their defence cooperation through military exchanges, training programmes, capacity-building initiatives and other bilateral engagements aimed at strengthening their strategic partnership.
The visit by the ten Vietnamese officers to NDA Khadakwasla further reinforced these defence ties, demonstrating the role of military education and professional exchanges in building stronger relationships between the Armed Forces of both nations.
The National Defence Academy, located at Khadakwasla near Pune, is India’s premier joint services training institution, where cadets of the Army, Navy and Air Force undergo foundational military and academic training before proceeding to their respective service academies for specialised training.
